Liam Quinn (he/him)

Liam’s journey with Open Polytechnic began in February of 2018 while working full time as an Inbound Sales Representative for a large telecommunications company. Initially Liam was inclined to study a law degree but due to various circumstances, Open Polytechnic offered a more flexible and suitable option for Liam to pursue.

Liam has since graduated with a New Zealand Diploma in Legal Executive Studies in October of 2019 and is currently completing his final paper towards a Bachelor of Business through the Open Polytechnic. He is also beginning his third year of law school at a university institute. Liam attributes the courage to succeed at law school to the skills gained through the courses he has studied at Open Polytechnic while he was still working full time.

Studying with Open Polytechnic has been a rewarding and motivating experience for Liam. He has gained invaluable skills which are used in his everyday life, such as knowledge of various organisational and communication theories which have eased the pressures of working in a team environment and working towards a common goal. His New Zealand Diploma in Legal Executive Studies has also been of great assistance with a good percentage of the topics covered within law school.

Liam is passionate about law, politics and justice, doing what is right for the community and being a voice for others. This is why Liam chose to join the Student Advisory Group, where he has been given the opportunity to be a voice for our students and enable Open Polytechnic to better its services for future improvements towards the success and wellbeing of its students.

In his spare time, Liam enjoys attending concerts and theatre productions. He is an avid fan of motorsports including V8 Supercars and Formula 1. He also enjoys taking on various voluntary commitments within his local community.

Upon completion of his studies at Open Polytechnic and Law School, Liam aims to secure a future career as a criminal defence or prosecution lawyer, continuing his passion for advocacy in his professional life.
