Student Advisory Group Application Form

The Student Advisory Group provides the Open Polytechnic with direct feedback on a range of student-related topics, and acts as a critical sounding board on new initiatives and existing Open Polytechnic services.

The group may consist of up to 12 students from across the Open Polytechnic student body at any one time, who are able to contribute to the group through an online forum. Occasional on-campus meetings with relevant Open Polytechnic senior managers and the Open Polytechnic Council are also held. Members are appointed for an initial two-year term but may be reappointed for a maximum of three terms.

Members are selected on the following criteria:

Have an interest in distance education;
Currently enrolled at the Polytechnic, and will have been enrolled for at least 24 weeks at the time of appointment;
Have access to the Internet in order to participate in online discussions; and
Show in the nomination form their qualities and skills that will enable them to contribute to the Open Polytechnic Student Advisory Group

Acceptance of applications

The Chief Executive will appoint members on the recommendations of the Academic Board. Any information you provide in your application will be circulated to Academic Board members, in confidence, and if you are appointed, to the other members of the Student Advisory Group. Any new appointments will be confirmed at the Academic Board meeting following the student’s application and students will be notified by email of the outcome of their application.
