Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 1) [New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Bilingual) (Level 1)]

Entry Requirements

Learners will need to meet the English language requirements and learners also need access to a computer that is able to record and upload audio files (see computer and internet requirements for further information).

We are unable to enrol learners who are home-schooled, or still at school. Ākonga of school age may be asked to provide a Ministry of Education leaving certificate.

English language requirements 

Domestic students for whom English or Māori is not their first language must have an IELTS (Academic or General) score of 5.0 with no band score lower than 5.0, or equivalent.

Zero fees

International students and domestic students living overseas

This programme is not available to international students or domestic students living overseas.

This programme is only available to domestic students living in New Zealand.

 

Computer and internet requirements

This programme is delivered online. To complete this programme you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer, a reliable broadband internet connection and a data plan able to support online learning such as streaming  videos (including YouTube), listening to audio files, downloading content, and writing and submitting online assessments. Your computer will need a working microphone, as assessments require you to record yourself and upload the audio file.

Software and hardware requirements

When you study with us you have free access to online and downloadable Microsoft 365 software, including Outlook (email), Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more. It’s important that you familiarise yourself with this software as you will be using it often during your studies.

Audio/microphone requirements

Assessments and activities in each course require you to record yourself speaking, therefore, you will need to ensure you have a working microphone installed or connected to the device you are using. You will save your audio files and upload these for marking.
